Ai Weiwei. The Silk Scarf ‘Citizens’ Investigation’
 
One of 2,500. A 100% silk scarf, 35.4 × 35.4 inches, handwoven and hand-silkscreened, with hand-rolled edges, its design taken from Ai Weiwei's papercut series Citizens' Investigation, published by TASCHEN in 2019.
 
The work reflects on the 2008 Sichuan earthquake and Weiwei's long campaign to understand why so many of its victims were children. Rooted in a Chinese papercut tradition spanning two millennia, this is a wearable object with a history and a conscience. Packaged in tissue paper in a 10×10 inch box.
